The EuroBar Story

The EuroBar® design was inspired by European tradition and built with American bartenders in mind. It all started with a drawing on a napkin, where Livio Lauro sketched out his ideal bar.

Lauro started his career in southern Italy at the famous Club Valentino, and later at Dolce Vita on the island of Ischia in the heart of the Mediterranean. There he practiced the trade behind traditional European bars, designed to serve customers cappuccinos or frozen drinks during the day and cocktails at night. For this, you typically find the workstation front and center with the cutting board, bar tools, garnishes, and even a trash chute close at hand. When sketching out a design for a new bar, he adapted that concept to the American style, creating a modular unit that fits in the 24-inch space between the die wall of the bar and the edge where the bartender stands.

Today that concept that started out as a sketch on a napkin has come to life, giving bar owners the ability to elevate their operation with a bar that pleases the bartender as much as the customer.

About Livio Lauro

Lauro fell in love with the bar experience as a child when he watched his first drink being made, a Shirley Temple at a family wedding. Since then, he has worked his way to becoming one of the most renowned bartenders in the world.

After working as a bartender in both Italy and the United States, Lauro became the Director of Mixology at Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits in 2001. Livio helped revive the United States Bartenders’ Guild and served as the founding president of the Guild’s Master Accreditation program, the premier national testing body for bartenders in the United States.

Livio also does his part to educate the public on the art of drinks. He is the founder and host of Master Your Glass, a weekly show on YouTube, and Andiamo Newsletter on beverage hospitality. He is also the author of Liquid Legacy and co-author of The Twelve Cocktails and The Beverage Engineer.
